Abilties: The source of Kory's powers is her Tamaranean physiology. Her body absorbs ultraviolet radiation--the main source of which being the sun and stars, but she can also absorb it from other beings to some degree. Her vision is better than that of a human and her durability and strength are on par with that of Wonder Woman. She is capable of flight, even able to transverse light years in a short amount of time, and can learn languages through physical contact alone. Her main weapon of choice are her starbolts: blasts of solar energy released from her body, usually her hands. She is capable of releasing all of her solar energy in one, practically nuclear blast. Thought to be as hot as the sun, the ability is saved for only the most dire of situations. Aside from any meta abilities, Kory is also proficient in armed and unarmed combat.

Weaknesses: Though extremely durable, Kory is not indestructible. She can be injured and even killed, it would just take a lot more effort to do so than it would were she human. Kory's powers are also reliant on the sun and, though she has never showed signs of weakness during night or indoors, it is theoretically possible to therefore reduce her powers. Kory, also, wears her heart on her sleeve. She does not fight her emotions and they can sometimes impair her judgment or be exploited by others. New to the planet, there is also a lot she does not understand about the world and the people inhabiting it.

Kory is the middle child in a batch of three: second in line for the throne of the planet Tamaran. Her oldest sister, Komand'r, however came down with a crippling childhood illness that left her unable to fly. Deemed no longer worthy of the throne, the succession fell to Kory. The two sisters were sent to train with the Warlords of Okaara. It was then that Komand'r ran off and allied herself with the Citadel. With Komand'r's help, the Citadel invaded Tamaran and the King was forced to give Kory up to them as an insurance for peace.

Kory endured six years of torture and other abuses before she and Komand'r--betrayed by the Citadel--were handed over to the Psions for experimentation. The Psions' brutal experiments were what granted the sisters' their starbolt ability. A group of those loyal to Komand'r attacked the Psions and Kory was able to escape during the distraction. She freed her sister despite better judgment and was attacked by her. Her sister planned to execute Kory, but Kory was able to escape once more. She eventually found her way to Earth. Upon arrival to the planet, she met Dick Grayson. He helped her to settle into the planet: her new home.

The colors seemed to swirl together and there was nothing to hear but harmonious silence. She could see why so many humans, particularly the little ones, dreamed of being astronauts. It was one thing to see such a scene on television, but a whole other thing to experience it firsthand.
